![]() The altar is decorated with four large sculptures by the Vallmitjana brothers. It is closed off by a cross vault featuring keystones depicting the life of the Virgin. It is perhaps the simplicity of the structure, comprising a single nave and polygonal apse, that explains the beauty of this church. The façade, which was restored in the neo-Gothic style, leads into a peaceful and charming interior. When you step inside and walk up the distinctive spiral staircase to the top of the bell tower, you will enjoy some of the best views of the surrounding area. On one side, the 15th-century octagonal tower lends height to the ensemble. Tucked away in a corner of the captivating little square, the Placeta de Sant Just, in the centre of the Palau district, which was the place where the nobility lived at the time, the building is surprisingly austere. Nothing remains of that Romanesque church and a Gothic-style building dating from 1342 stands in its place. John and Leslie’s time in Africa left an imprint on their hearts that dramatically impacted their view on life and church and further developed their passion for other cultures. While in Kenya, John and Leslie served as a part of the pastoral staff of Nairobi Lighthouse Church, a church reaching thousands of people each week and making a significant impact in Africa. After serving for many years, John became the college pastor at his local church until he and Leslie moved to Kenya, Africa as missionaries. Their passion for building God’s House began early, faithfully volunteering in their local church as young people in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
